ADDITIONAL INFO:     I got this knife sometime back. The leather portion of the handle was worn out and beginning to crumble, even the fiber spacers at the ends were bad as well. They were brittle so I I had to make new fiber spacers out of modern spacer materials which are little more impervious to age and use. I copied the color patterns of the original spacers. I am not an expert on dating Western knives although I know we have a couple of experts here on AAPK that I have not had occasion to contact yet. I believe this knife to be an L48 made between the end of World War II at about 1954 or 1955. I may be wrong, it could possibly be older than that but I think the piece. One of the strange things I have discovered about Western knives is the dimensions of the actual knife don’t always match the catalog description. The catalog says this knife should be 8 inches long, but it also says it should have a 4-3/8.” The explanation I have heard is that individual grinder off the ground them catalog dimension. But the fact that they are hand ground speaks volumes about their quality. This knife would make a nice addition to someone’s collection or even a welcome addendum to their gear!

This is a restored & customized vintage knife. Like most old soldiers it may have a few battle scars but it is ready to go to work!
