Located in Southington, Connecticut between c.1867-1905.

Southington Cutlery is known to have made some of the highest quality pocket knives. This is a nice Southington Cut Co 2-Blade Sleeveboard Shadow Pen Pocket Knife. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel spear point blade with a common nail pull. Both blade faces have a lot of scratches from use and sharpening and unfortunately quite a few grinding marks from someone who though that to be a good idea. Other than that just a few very light pits and light scattered staining plus some light chipping on the cutting edge that should easily hone out. Stamped on the front tang is SOUTH- (over) INGTON (over) CUT CO. The secondary blade is a used and sharpened carbon steel pen blade with a common nail pull. This blade has scratches from use but seems to have avoided any grinder sharpening. Other than a some light stains and very light pits it’s fairly clean overall. Stamped on the front tang is SOUTH- (over) INGTON (over) CUT CO.. Both blades have excellent hard open and close snap. The knife has an excellent set of genuine Mother-of-Pearl scales. They’re in excellent shape with no cracks, splits or missing chips. Both scales also have a lot of color when turned in the light. There are three polished nickel silver handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished brass liners. The knife has a single steel back spring that’s free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This vintage 19th Century or Very Early 20th Century Southington Cutlery Company Sleeveboard Shadow Pen Pocket Knife was made in their factory in Southington, Conn. between c.1867-1905 and is 3 1/4” in length.
