Fred bauer served in the Army in WWII, he came from Jacksonville FL. He made connections in germany during the occupation and made a living in the import business including knives that were made for him by Puma, Wingen, Henckels and several others. he was the patron saint of the Bold City knife Club in Jacksonville until he passed in the 70's.

That said, just look at those handles..Red honey bone, perfect and held down by 3 brass pins and brass liners. Nickel bolsters and pinned shield. Bauer came way before Parker, Sargeant and Buster. 5 1/4" closed, blades have tarnish and some light pitting that will clean up with elbow grease. Both blades are tight and could wake up the dead, loud snap open and closed. Master blade marked F.A. Bauer import Co. Germany. Reverse has Solingen 75 (the model #).
