This is a Vintage **MINT** ARNEX STAINLESS 2-Blade Brass Figural Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with an Unused and Unsharpened Stainless Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull and with its Original Factory Mirror Polish and it’s Original Factory Edge, a Stainless Steel Dual-Sided Fingernail File, or Manicure Secondary Blade with a Crosshatch Nail File on Each Face, Brightly Polished Embossed Brass Figural Scales in Perfect Condition, Two (2) Brass Handle Pins in Each Handle Along with the Two (2) Brass Pins Holding the Brass Bail to the Frame. a Single Brightly Polished Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 3/8” in Length, Made by Arnex with This Knife Made in Taiwan Sometime Post 1940.

This is a Mint condition Arnex Stainless 2-Blade Brass Figural Shadow Pen Pocket Knife. Arnex made knives between 1920 and around 1940. I know they made some of their knives in Solingen, some in Mexico and some in Taiwan. This one was made in Taiwan. A lot of people don’t know but Arnex made several different versions of outdoor scenes on this same platform. A lot of these came paired in sets with the same scene on a picket watch. I’ve had several of these matching sets over the years. Arnex made a quality knife and a quality pocket watch. This knife has an unused and unsharpened stainless steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. It still has its original factory mirror Polish and it’s original factory edge. Stamped on the front tang is Arnex (in script)(over) STAINLESS. Stamped on the rear tang is TAIWAN. On the other end of the frame is an unused stainless steel dual-sided fingernail file, or manicure, secondary blade. There is a cross-hatched file on each blade face and a fingernail cleaner on the top of the blade.  The spear blade has excellent open and close snap and a good half-stop. The fingernail file blade is very tight in the frame and I still haven’t got it freed up as it should be. It’s tight and its quiet as you have to push it to both open and close. I’ll continue to work on it. The knife has embossed brass scales with a raised outdoor scene. This depiction is of a man and his rifle and looking upward with his dog at his feet. The scales polished up brightly but unfortunately the LED lights I use for photos seem to always wash out the color gold. There are three (3) brass handle pins in each handle. The original brass bail is still attached to the frame with brass pins. The knife has a single steel back spring which is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform.
