CONDITION:   Very Good

DAMAGE: Some pitting and discoloration of the blade, also use scratches on the blade. The finish on the handle is partially worn off.

BLADE WEAR:   Blade is about 3/16” short. Apparently the tip worn down or reground.

MADE IN:   Sweden

ADDITIONAL INFO:     I am not an expert on the knives made in Mora Sweden though I have had some of their older knives and some of their newer knives. The older ones mostly seem to have wood handles and leather sheaths while the newer ones mostly seem to have plastic or a tactile form of plastic handles and plastic sheaths. I have found these to be some of the sharpest knives I have ever received from a current production knife, especially at an economy price point! They rival even some of the Japanese companies noted for their excellent edges. I do prefer the older knives from Mora such as this one which has a carbon steel blade, but that is based solely on my love of carbon steel. The carbon steel and stainless steel knives I have owned and used from Mora Sweden are both excellent!

I did reach out to one of our members who lives much closer to Sweden than I do. He was kind enough to download three or four pages of a 1960 catalog for K.J.E. and email them to me. K.J.E. is apparently the abbreviation for the company, K.J. Erikssons Sax- & Kinvfabrik. When translated into English it means "K.J. Eriksson's Scissor & Knife Factory."

The area around Mora Sweden has been noted for its quality knife making since the 1600s. I'm not sure where the K. Jepikgson name came from, perhaps that was one of the makers there at an earlier point in time.

I am including a couple pictures of the pertinent information from the catalog my friend forwarded to me. The first page shows description of the knife. Notice the #25, #27 and #28 are just variations in blade length. The second paragraph is the English translation for that page. The second page from the catalog show some of the measurements of the knives listed. The #28 is 235 mm or 9-1/4" with the blade length of 125 mm or 4-15/16".

This knife is approximately 5 mm or 3/16 short of the listed length for the #28. It's apparent to me that this knife is been used some, but at the same time the knife has been well cared for. There is some pitting to the blade and some staining but that is to be expected of older carbon steel knives, especially ones that have lived a full life in the field.

The sheath appears to be the correct one for this knife. This would be a nice one to add to your collection or I think it would be a fun knife to use camping, fishing or hunting.
