ADDITIONAL INFO:     This knife was originally a marbles woodcraft pattern which according to LG 4 was patented in 1916. This knife has been heavily modified and a unique handle and pommel added to it. This knife came in a lots of knives I purchased. There were several theater knives in that lot, or knives that appeared to be theater knives. I'm not an expert on Marble's knives but I believe this pattern is plenty old enough it could have been used in World War II. According to LG 4 Marbles did not supply a lot of knives on contract to the government, but Levine did say "Military buyers did scoop up most of marbles 1941-45 commercial inventory and output…"

When one buy a lot of knives, most needing repair, there is little if any provenance that comes with them. I do believe that this knife is of the right age to have been a theater customized knife. The rings of the handle appeared to be copper and aluminum with the guard itself being copper. It appears that the larger rings are leather and the center red one bring appears to be some sort of man-made material that I don't recognize. The pommel is not a great mystery, it appears to be the antler crown of a deer. This may have been added when the G.I. returned home.

I did not put my name on this knife because I did not do the original work all I did was some restoration work, lining up and tightening down the handle and taking some scratches out of the blade. I did make a leather sheath for it, trying a lighter type of leather than I normally use. It's better than many of the original sheaths, it is serviceable and probably heavier leather than some of the original sheaths, it's just not the heavier leather I prefer.
