RARE vintage Maasai short sword.  I got this in Kenya in 2002 in the south when traveling to the Masi Mara.  It belonged to a local Masi and I trade an expensive pair of Danner boots and a buck knife for it. I am now thinning out my collection and passing things on to others that I hope will appreciate them.  Measuring approximately 20" in total length, with 15 1/4" blade. Sword comes with original sheath, although knife has been displayed outside of it and now the sheath is a bit too tight a fit and knife does not go in and out smoothly.  

  The handle is wooden the sheath is sinew/leather over a wood liner.  The blade is mostly very sharp, so please handle with care! 

Sheath and knife are in good used vintage condition.  Look at photo # 4, there is a ding in the blade.  I was told by the owner it was from striking a lion's tooth that charged him on a lion hunt...well I don't know about that, however, it is a very unique and interesting piece regardless.  Shows signs of some use and handling. Moderate cosmetic wear as expected with age and use, such as surface marks/scuffs, scratches, tarnish, general wear, etc. Many scratches markings on the blade and edge, no major damages - need sharpening.  Sheath has moderate wear to outside.
