ADDITIONAL INFO:   Camillus Cutlery Company had been reproducing the Remington knives since the 1980s, however in 2007 Camillus cutlery company closed due to bankruptcy. There were many unfinished blades sold on the auction, which were then in turn sold on eBay and other places on the web. I purchased several lots of these blades various patterns, with a number of Remington blades included. This blade had been heat-treated and ground before I bought it but the final edge had not yet ground. There was no guard with this knife so I just had to use my best guess at what a guard for this knife should have been. I filed the guard from a bar of 5/16” brass. The holes for the pins in this handle were too small for the mosaic pins, so I countersunk Cutler’s rivets in the handles so that the heads were well below the surface of the stag. Then I sliced four pieces of a larger mosaic pin, polish them and inlaid them in the stag over the rivet head. In essence a shield made from a larger mosaic pins covers the head of the Cutler’s rivets. They are epoxy into place just as the stag handles are epoxy and a place as well as being held on by the Cutler’s rivets. This is a nice quality knife with a quality sheath and a beautiful stag handle. It would be equally at home in the field or in a display case.
