ADDITIONAL INFO:                        The Streamline jackknives were made by Camillus in the mid-1930s. Everyone I have seen had celluloid handles; most of them had light colored celluloid handles that had a tendency to deteriorate and off gas. The offgassing process releases nitric acid and sulfuric acid, which attacks the carbon steel, but especially the brass of the liners. Once I removed the covers from a Streamline repair it and the liners had been so compromised and we can by the offgassing celluloid that both liners developed cracks and twisted in my hand as I watched. It cracked through the rocker pin holes in the liners, from the stress transferred from the springs to the liners through the pin. It twisted in my hands as I watch the cracks develop in the liners. It usually takes me three or four Streamline knives to get enough parts to make one good knife because of the corrosive and destructive nature of the offgassing process. This knife was a little bit better than most; I think it only took me two knives to make this one restored Streamline. However, there are dings in the liners and the bolsters that were too deep to be removed and the handle pins are off-line from one another. None of these should affect the way the knife works, just the aesthetics. It has a nice full master blade and a good pen blade on it this knife will make a nice user for someone who enjoys using final carbon steel. Restored vintage knives are sometimes less-than-perfect; this one is a little less perfect than I had hoped. It should be a good solid using knife, I would just like to get my cost of materials from it.
