ADDITIONAL INFO:                        I have been very fond of the quality workmanship and the incredible carbon steel that was used in Western States and Western knives from Colorado. Their carbon steel is equal to or better than the carbon steel blades of any of the other US manufacturers! With the restoration work I do to these knives and with proper care these knives will last the new owner a lifetime, and it will hold an edge as well or better than some of the so-called super steels.

This knife does not have the Western name on it, though anyone who is familiar with Western knives will recognize it as being a Western product from the bifurcated tang. This knife was made for Coast Cutlery Company of Portland Oregon. The knives made for them under their own Coast Cutlery name were from some very prestigious knife companies over the years, as well as some lesser-known knife companies. I have seen a number of Coast knives that were made by Western, as well as Colonial Cutlery and I believe Gerber also made knives for them. I would be surprised if Camillus had not made knives for them also at some point over the years.

A few years ago, Coast Cutlery changed their name to Coast Products. Their new product line appears to be a little more streamlined with only 51 different knives offered but also with a selection of multi-tools, flashlights & headlamps. All in all it’s a very Pacific Northwest kind of company; as are the products they sell.

 Personally, I think the fixed blade knives that Western made for Coast are some of the best knives that Coast Cutlery ever offered. This is a great piece with an uncommon tang stamp (outside of the Pacific Northwest), good for display or to strap on your belt and go hunting or fishing.
