ADDITIONAL INFO:                        This is a knife that I have had for so many years that I don’t remember where I got it. It was one I purchased for a project and it just so happens that the time to do the project, and the material to do the project all presented themselves when I was looking for a project to do. The knife had literally sat in a drawer with other projects for several years, so long that I don’t remember when or where I originally got the knife. But it is an older Ulster with serif letters, which means it was made prior to 1941 when Albert Baer purchased it from Dwight Divine’s sons. When I started working on this knife there was nothing but two liners, two blades, a back spring and the three pins that held them all together, there was no handle material whatsoever left. I don’t know what the original animals were made of, but I would guess they would probably celluloid.

The handles I put on our stag that originally came from the Henckels factory in Solingen Germany. Henckels stopped making pocketknives in 1960. Years later a gentleman in the Pacific Northwest was established as the US agent to repair Henckels and he was given all the parts he could use, (actually was limited to the size of his garage), and he repaired Henckels knives in the US for a number of years. I acquired some of this stag several years ago when a trade. I have used up most of the sets but these two pieces happened to work quite nicely for this little Ulster. For the restoration we have a American made knife, with sambar stag from India by way of a final German company. This is like many knives that I restore, my first inclination is to keep it, but then I have to wonder where I would put it. LOL

Great for a collection or for a nice dress knife.
