ADDITIONAL INFO:   This is a restored Western L66. When I got this knife there were some leather rings missing from the handle. There was not a correct sheath with the knife either. I removed the leather rings and cleaned up the bifurcated tang. I replaced the rings with Sambar stag that had been dyed with an amber color. I glued the stag in place with epoxy as well as pinning it. The epoxy acts as a sealant to help keep the water from getting inside of the handle, which is usually because of the damage to the original leather handles. The epoxy seals the backside of the stag slabs as well as sealing the gaps between the stag slabs, the tang, pommel and guard. This should keep moisture from the interior of the handle, under normal usage.

I fabricated a new tubular style leather sheath using an original Western sheath as my pattern. The sheath is hand cut, hand sewn and riveted to be a close match to the original Western sheath without the tooling on the leather. This sheath is made for and fit to this knife, and it fits much better than the original Western sheaths did.

 This is a restored & customized vintage knife. Like most old soldiers it may have a few battle scars but it is ready to go to work! I hope you enjoy it either in your collection or your hunting kit.
