This knife is amazing! It's not in mint condition, but it is sharp, the blade is full and clean and the handle is tight and crack free. Not to mention it has its original old style leather sheath! You NEVER see this knife with its original scabbard, I haven't anyway. The sheath is missing something, but can still be slid into your belt as knives often were in those days and held in place with the stud that is still there. I could also make a frog for the sheath, but that's another job. This knife is post 1891, because of the Sheffield England mark. But I would be willing to bet this is still pre 1910. The stag handles have taken on a wonderful patina and are totally solid. No cracks or chips and the wonderful rich color and the heavy rough finish. This is actually a very substantial little bowie knife! Old world craftsmanship at it's finest. As stated, the blade is still etched "bowie" though it is faded. You can even see the hammer marks on the old brass pins... This thing needs to be framed and put up asap. I purchased this from a collector in Canada who stated the knife was said to have been brought over from the USA circa1900. Either way, this thing is in great shape. It would be the absolute coolest antique EDC, but I couldn't bring myself to carry this treasure... thats up to you! Feel free to make an offer, or contact me if you'd like me to make a frog for the sheath. This knife has been featured in some of the Bowie knife books that have been published in the past, those are the only results google turned up in my search. Thanks for looking and follow me on Instagram!
