Precise Deerslayer knife, Custom High Stainless Steel
Precise International Corp. of Suffern, NY, Founded 1954 in NYC. It is believed they started importing knives from Seki, Japan in 1966 some manufactured by Ichiro Hattori. This Precise Deerslayer is 9.25" OAL With a 4,25" custom Stainless Steel Blade (probably AUS 8).Knife comes with a leather sheath, handle of Hardwood with brass quillon and pommel.
Precise is still in business but they quit importing and selling knives either in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The exact date is elusive as they quit importing long before sellers quit selling. A post WWII importer of sporting goods, notably Wenger Swiss Army Knives and Gamo air guns. Their German contract knives were handled by Voos, Linder, and Schlieper.
This knife is used but in good condition (judge for yourself from the pictures) The blade does not have scratches, the handle, pommel and bolster ae in good condition with some tarnish. There are some marks on the choil. Leather sheath shows wear from the knife being stored in there and being moved around but still solid.
This knife has a bit of heft to it, you are handling a stout drop point knife. The finger grip on the choil allows you to move up on the blade for finer work and the handles offer a generous grip. You have to have a bit of attitude to be called a Deerslayer.
