I wanted to put these 3 items together in a package because of what they represent not only of the Marble's Corp. but in American history & the exploration of the entire planet. Marble's outfitted Teddy Roosevelt on several of his expeditions & hunts. Admiral Peary & Byrd carried Marble's compass's, match boxes, knives, & axes on their quest to be the 1st to the north & south poles. Charles Lindbergh, on the 1st Solo Atlantic crossing, spent 1lb of his cargo limit to carry a Marble's Ideal knife, long tang coat compass, and Waterproof Match Box. All 3 are on display in the Smithsonian Institution !!! That is just what I put together in this package, a remake of the old Marble's Gift Set that came out in 1929 !!!

Note: I had to substitute a new in box Marble's Match Box, & Compass, which are both imported !!!

This is a Marble's 3 piece Gift Set

Set consists of:

1 Vintage Marble's Ideal knife

1 long tang coat Compass

1 Waterproof Match Box

1 old style tube sheath

Knife is a Marble's Ideal, half hilt, stacked leather handle, aluminum pommel. Knife is late 1930's to 1944, as the last of the 1/2 hilt Ideal's were made after WW2 started, Marble's was the 1st knife co. to bring the stacked leather handle into widespread use in the USA !!! Knife is cleaned & polished, Very Good condition, tight from front to back Stamped: Marble's GLADSTONE, MICH. U.S.A. with the roller coaster stamp & the right facing SERIF on the A. Knife is 8 3/4" OAL with a 4 5/8" blade. Pommel is the old tear drop aluminum, small brass nut on end

Knife comes with an old style tube sheath, Marble's used these type of sheaths back in the early 1900's with the Ideal

Compass is the Marble's Long Tang Coat Compass. This style was dicontinued in 1928 on the originals. Compass is stamped: Marble's Arms Mfg Co. Compass is new in box. Marble's compasses have been carried by explorers and sportsmen for over 100 yrs

Waterproof Match Box is new in box and the same design as the originals. It is stamped: Marble's, Gladstone, PAT'D 1900. Invented by WL Marble himself, these matchboxes have been instrumental in having the ability to make fire from weekend outings by sportsman too exploring the planet, to the building of the Panama Canal !!!
