ADDITIONAL INFO:     One of the most distinctive and favorite celluloid patterns is the butter & molasses pattern. Camillus, Western and Schrade all made knives with the butter and molasses handles and all are highly collectible. Schrade attempted to make the butter and molasses pattern in later plastics after celluloid was discontinued but the results were less than spectacular in my opinion.

This knife comes from one of the last of the old time knife guys here in Salem Oregon; he is a World War II veteran in his 90s. The old time knife guys felt that “shiny sells” and the fellow who used to clean their knives buffed them until they shined. It’s unfortunate that gentleman is no longer with us but passed on a few years ago. Personally, I don’t like to see a knife cleaned that heavily and normally I would’ve passed this knife up but this pattern with these handles is the first one I have seen. This combination is quite unusual, normally when I find a #21 Camillus the handles are celluloid jigged and colored to look like stag, on rare occasion I have seen them in Rogers bone, I have one in my collection. I know there are lots of guys here who love the peanut pattern so I thought I would put this in my store. If it doesn’t sell I will add it to my collection of unusual Camillus celluloid.
