BOLSTERS:   Nickel silver

SHIELD:   Nickel silver oval

HANDLES:   Black composite with white stripes in it. I think the handles are likely celluloid.

BLADES:   Spear blade with swedge and pen blades.

BLADE ETCH:  MERIDEN/CUTLERY CO./U.S.A. in a frame with logo. Etch clearly visible.

LINERS:   Brass

TANG STAMP:   M.C. CO./U.S.A. -Both blades stamped with this stamp.     

REAR STAMP: 4234

CONDITION:   Very Good to Excellent

DAMAGE:   Normal wear with dings to handles, bolsters, liners and blades.

BLADE WEAR: Wear to master blade, approx 10%; wear to pen blade approx 20%

SNAP:   Great!

MADE IN:   U.S.A.

 ADDITIONAL INFO:             I know nothing about Meriden Cutlery Co except what I have read in “Goins’ Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings.” He said Meriden Cutlery Co was established in 1878. In 1918, Landers, Frary & Clark took over the cutlery business. Knives stamped M.C. Co. were they were made by L. F. & C. and distributed through Meriden outlets. This is a  great old knife, I love the etch on the blade!
