This knife is from The Orvis Company which was founded by Charles F. Orvis in Manchester, Vermont in 1856. Orvis is America’s oldest mail-order outfitter and longest continually-operating fly-fishing business. The brand’s popularity is underscored by the knives it commissions like this from J. Szilaski.

This rare Orvis Limited Edition Bird & Trout Custom Knife made by World Famous Master Smith Joseph Szilaski out of Pine Plains, NY.. Orvis commissioned Szilaski and famous outdoor artist Brian Jarvis to create a beautiful print to complete the package which originally sold for $450.00 when issued in 1994. Orvis donated the proceeds to the Ruffed Grouse society. Only 50 where produced and this is #50! Both the print and the knife have the matching number. My bad photos do not do the package justice, sorry. Szilaski is a full time knife maker who started making knives in 1990 and some of his knives have sold for over $10,000.00! This beauty is 6 1/2" overall with an awesome 3" ATS-34 steel partially serrated blade beautifully shaped with a tapered tang surrounded

The knife has cocobolo wood scales pinned with nickel silver to the steel blade material. There is a thin red spacer material between the wood scales and the stainless steel. The full length of the knife is just about six and a half inches (Blade = 3" and Handle = 3.5"). There is a one and a quarter inch serrated section on the ATS-34 steel blade edge which is 3/16" at its widest point (thin).

The limited edition print (mounted in the lid of the presentation box behind plexiglass) is signed and numbered by Brian Jarvis and is also number 50/50 to correspond with the knife.
