CONDITION: Restored and customized vintage knife

 

SHEATH:   Handmade leather sheath, hand sewn and hand riveted. I used heavyweight leather for the sheath and I covered the inside surface of the snap and the rivet on the strap so they do not scratch the stag handle of the knife. I used an old worn out Western sheath is the pattern when I made the sheath.

ADDITIONAL INFO:   I love the old Western knives and I think their carbon steel is some of the finest carbon steel ever used in knives. To me they are worth the time and effort it takes to restore them and make them usable again. This one have the original stacked leather handle that had rotted from years of exposure to moisture. I removed the original handle, cleaned down and removed the rust and replaced the handle with Sambar stag and I used epoxy to seal the back of the stag and to prevent moisture from getting inside between the handles. This is an excellent knife that will make a fine display piece with a little bit of character because I did not remove every ding from the knife for this knife will make an outstanding sportsman’s knife. Whether hunting, camping or fishing, or all three; this knife has a lifetime of service still left in it!
