ADDITIONAL INFO:                        I took some pictures of this knife to sell in my store and discovered that there was a little piece broken in the Delrin handle. From the looks of it, it had probably been broken at the factory. So that got me to thinking about how good these little peanuts look with some nice stag on them. About the nicest stag I have seen is some I got several years ago that had originally come from the Henckel’s factory. As you may know Henckels stopped making their own pocket knives about 1960. The first knife mechanic I ever met was the Henckel’s representative who called on me in the cutlery store in the 1980s. His hobby was collecting and repairing old knives, especially Henckels. Once when he was in Solingen at a sales meeting they asked him if he would be interested in repairing knives in the United States for a reasonable fee if they gave him all the parts he would need and ship them to his home in Washington state. Of course he jumped the chance and the only regret he had was that he didn’t have a larger garage to store all of the parts they offered him. He had all of the parts one would need to repair most of the knives that Henckel had made up until 1960. This included blades, pins, liners, bolsters and of course handle material. They sent bone handle material, lots of stag, mother-of-pearl, abalone, and even tortoiseshell. Over the years he didn’t use all of the stag so he sold a bunch of it to a friend of mine. It was through this friend that I acquired a fair amount of this fine old stag that came from the Henckel’s factory. I have used most of the larger pieces and some of the smaller pieces are warped so I’ve had to straighten them, but I had this one little set of beautiful stag handles that were a perfect fit for this little peanut. I didn’t have to think too long about it, I just went to work and put this stag on this Craftsman peanut. The fine figuring of this stag worked quite nicely on this little knife was small handles. I took the knife apart and polished the inside liners and springs and reassembled it with the beautiful Henckels stag.
