ADDITIONAL INFO:   The celluloid handle of this knife was broken and beginning to decompose when I got it. The blade had been worn down considerably and had been poorly sharpened. I was able to remove the vast majority of the grinder marks from the blade, straighten it up, but I couldn’t quite get all of them without taking the blade down too much. Despite the fact that the blade is probably at least a half an inch shorter than it had been originally I chose to proceed with the restoration process this knife because the bottom line is this knife is a Western. I know this would be a great knife for a beginning hunter or fisherman. There’s at least one lifetime of service left in this blade as a Hunting knife or a Bird and Trout knife. This knife did not have a good sheath; the leather and stitching were rotted. I use the original sheath as a pattern and made a new sheath following the old pattern as closely as I could. This sheath is handmade and hand sewn by myself.

The quality of the steel in the Western’s knives have made them sought after by sportsmen and knife users since their earliest days. Now 10 years after new American made Western knives have disappeared from the retail marketplace, they have been the object of many collectors searches. They have retained their value and even increased.
