Here’s a rare and historical little pen knife with ties to both Oregon history and early 20th-century American cutlery. This is a vintage advertising knife made for Meyer & Frank Co. of Portland, Oregon, commemorating the Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition of 1905.

The handle is marked:

• “LEWIS & CLARK 1905” on one side

• “MEYER & FRANK CO. / PORTLAND, ORE.” on the other

It measures 3” closed with two pen blades:

• Main blade: approx. 1.75”

• Secondary blade: approx. 1.25”

Both blades have great snap and walk-and-talk action, no wobble. A little bit of surface grime present, but it should clean up easily with light steel wool.

The tang is clearly stamped:

THE DIXON CUTLERY CO. / NEW YORK, N.Y.

This is a lesser-seen cutlery importer or private label brand likely active around the early 1900s. A great crossover piece for collectors of advertising knives, Lewis & Clark memorabilia, or Portland ephemera.
