Vincenzo Balisteri was born in Lampedusa, a small island near Sicily, Italy. He started as a custom knifemaker gradually and before starting with knives had experiences with other art forms, like sculpting and painting. In 2003 he received a copy of the Italian magazine 'Coltelli' (Knives) and his interest in this form of art rose. His first exhibition was in 2004 where he displayed his first creation, a new take on the Anconetano knife. In 2006 he achieved the status of Maestro coltellinaio (Master Knifemaker) from the CIC (Italian Knivemakers Corporation). The thing he appreciates the most in his work is the constant research and development of new mechanisms, to ensure that his products are not only aesthetically pleasant but also well-working.
