This letter opener is 7.00" long with a 5.50" blade and was known as BSA Model #5537. This letter opener is well documented in 1965-1972 BSA equipment catalogs and the 1971 Presentations and Awards catalog. This letter opener is referenced in Joseph Kerr's book '600 Scout Knives' as #UNK07JM on page 102 supported by the accompanying images. This was valued based on the very good grade of this letter opener. The polished rhodium-plated letter opener features a large gold Tenderfoot emblem on the circle handle. This letter opener comes with the original sheath which features the words in gold block letters "Boy Scouts of America" on the head of the sheath. Both the letter opener and sheath show sign of use and deterioration.
