In 1930, Chicago Cutlery was founded in, you guessed it, Minneapolis, MN. In the early years they strictly produced commercial cutlery for resturaunts and butchers, later offering popular kitchen cutlery to the general public around 1969. About a decade later, they expanded into the pocket knife market. Most of these knives seem to have been contracted out to industry leaders, such as Schrade and Camillus. Today, like most American knife makers, almost all of their manufacturing comes from China. Sadly, most users have noted a sizeable drop in quality, as one would expect. But this knife is from the early years of Chicago Cutlery's pocket knife production, right here in the US. It is a timeless and familiar style, featuring:

There are some light blemishes and nicks on the bolsters and scales, but free of any chips or cracks. The blade may have been used once or twice, but I can not tell if it has been resharpened. The blade locks open solid and the spring still closes with good snap. No wobble or play. Most of these older ones that I have seen are missing their shield, but not yours. This one still has the original "Chicago Lockback" shield. You can tell that this knife was built to last, not just from the sheer heft, but also from the nice thick blade stock they used and the rugged integral bolster liners which are milled from one solid piece! A great example of why America was an industry leader in quality manufacturing for so long.
