RARE FIND! Queen City - Schatt & Morgan - 2010 Keystone Series - Reverse Worm Grooved - Off the Wall

Made in America!

A Brief Queen Cutlery History

As with all American blade manufacturers, Queen Cutlery has had an extensive and complicated history. The short story is that a handful of Schatt and Morgan employees left S&M and began making knives on their own in Titusville, PA circa 1918. They were very successful and produced knives in their original factory for nearly 100 years, using traditional methods and equipment. During that time, they acquired numerous companies and trademarks, including Robeson and, their former employer, Schatt and Morgan in 1933. Queen was bought by Servotronics in 1969 and then sold to the Daniels Family in 2012. Daniels Family Cutlery kept things running until 2018.

This knife is quite unusual.

In 1991, Queen introduced a limited run of Schatt & Morgan knives called the Keystone Series. This series ran for 20 years, with a new collection being introduced each year. For each run, less than 1,000 knives were produced; with only 600 being released for the final run in 2010.

The scales on this knife appear to be the Bourbon color jigged bone which belongs to the 2010 collection. This run features a very unique, Reverse Worm Groove pattern. But there are no single blade jacks in the 2010 collection. However, there was a Straight Moose pattern (2 blades) from 2010 which match up perfectly with these scales. What's even more interesting is that the blade has neither the standard SXM blade etch, nor tang stamp. Instead, it has a "Queen City" tang stamp on the mark side, and a "QDFC" (Queen - Daniels Family Cutlery) stamp over "USA - Carbon" on the pile side. However, the Daniels Family didn't acquire Queen Cutlery until 2012. So, this was most likely an "Off the Wall" assembly during the Daniels Family era, which started 2 years after the Keystone Series was retired; Making this truly one of a kind! This knife has taken a surprising amount of research, which saves you the headache. Luckily, I don't charge by the hour.

She's got good snap on closing, even better on opening. No wobble or play. The blade sits a tiny bit "proud" when fully opened (see pics) but not very obvious. The blade has a couple light blemishes and shows signs of light use and resharpening (also in pics). The bolsters have a few very light scuff and scratch marks here and there. Overall the knife is in great condition.

Queen has always been held in high regard with collectors, noted for their high quality and tradition. Following the closure of their doors in 2018, there has been a renewed interest in collecting all lines of Queen Cutlery; including Robeson, and Schatt and Morgan. Grab your piece of American knife history before they're all gone!

**Note: I am new to knife collecting and selling. All descriptions are to the best of my knowledge and in an attempt to be as honest and forthright as possible in regards to knife condition. I have conducted hours upon hours of research on each individual knife that comes into my possession in an attempt to set a fair price.
