40+ years old, from vintage knife collection being liquidated by estate sale.

Stored open in paper wrapper since new purchase; never sharpened, used or carried. Works as new! 

7 3/8" opened, 4 1/8" closed, 3 1/4" brushed satin flat-ground clip-point blade with nail groove.  Typical new old stock vintage condition shows small scuff marks from manufacturing, storage and handling.  No peek.

The unique Hubertus "magic knife" looks exactly like a conventional manual folder, but it incorporates an invisible scale release mechanism.  The top scale pivots slightly under firm pressure, releasing the blade automatically from the closed position.  The same action is repeated to unlock the blade for manual closing.  

This knife is designed for right-handed operation.  "Magic" opening requires a strong grip, coordination and practice.  The mechanism's strong spring resistance prevents accidental opening when handled, or in the pocket. There is no safety button.

To operate: place your three smallest fingertips firmly against the outer edge of the back scale nearest the blade's tip... and quickly squeeze & release the scale.  This fires the blade.  Repeat to manually close the blade.

As demonstrated, a solid lockup results when upon opening, the edge is facing up or sideways.  Otherwise, if the edge is facing downwards, gravity will cause the blade to bounce back.  Once the technique is learned, the "magic knife" will reliably lock open at many angles.
