Americans have the Kabar, and the English have this; the Fairbairn Sykes Commando Knife. 

Designed specifically for use in WW2, the FS knife has proven itself on the battlefield and is held in high regard among British Special Forces. This is a P3 (3rd pattern) design which started being produced in 1942. The P3 is highly desirable among collectors. And this particular knife was not only made by an original producer of FS knives, but a blade maker that dates back to 1700!

Near the guard, you will find 2 iconic Nowill trademarks; the "D star" (D*) and the cross keys. These trademarks can also be found on the blade etch along with "J. Nowill & Sons" over "Sheffield, England" over "Established A.D. 1700"

The knife is in great, but worn condition. It is solid and sturdy with no breaks, chips or cracks. The blade etch is still clearly visible and there's some patina forming. The blade is fairly dull and some sources attribute this to complying with export laws at the time of shipping. So it may have never been used or sharpened. It comes with the original sheath, which seems to use high grade leather. However, this sheath design also uses a small elastic band which is prone to wear and breakage. That piece has broken off of this sheath. 

This knife is a little over 11.5" and sports a 7" blade. 

Perfect for collectors of combat knives, daggers and old Sheffield cutlers.
