Knifemakers Stiddy
Brand new stiddy available here. Made of hot rolled 4140 normalized steel. The clip bolted onto the horn is hardened 01 tool steel. Holes drilled for convenient bench mounting but at just over 10 pounds, six ounces and with an overall height of just 4 inches sitting on a 5 inch diameter base, this anvil isn't moving whether you bolt it down or not. The face is 1.5 inches by 4 inches which includes the tool steel clip. No disappointments here except maybe the price - the steel is expensive and it's a labor intensive undertaking. This is 3 days worth of work in the machine shop but the result is a beautiful and bulletproof stiddy that will outlast you and the next generations that get their hands on it after you.
