Up for sale is a German "gravity knife", used by German paratroopers during WW2.  The knife is complete and opens and closes properly.  Individual elements of the knife (blade, wood, etc) range from "fair to good", with NO elements being in "very good" or better condition.  Still, the knife is a decent example of a very interesting take on an "automatic" knife used during WW2.

I understand that these knives were made in (at least) 2 styles..."take down" knives that came apart, and "non take down" knives which did not come apart.  The square button on the side of this knife near the end where the blade is released indicates this is a "take down" version...which should hypothetically come apart.  Though the button depresses, my "half-hearted" attempts have been unsuccessful in disassembling the knife.  I have NOT made and real effort to take it appart other then just pushing the button and pulling (by hand...no tools) on the metal piece.  I have NOT tried lubrication nor any other methods to assist in disassembly as I don't want to possibly damage the knife...and I don't really care if it comes apart or not.
