 Case made their kitchen knives in many different configurations over the years.  This model was a staple of their culinary line for many decades and it can be found in numerous variations. I believe it to be made in the 1950's after consulting with a longtime collector of Case XX knives. However, do your own research! Some of these variations included finger-grooved or straight handles, full or half tang, dot system dated or not, thick blades, thin blades, laminated wood handle, composite handle, stainless steel blade, carbon steel, chromium, etc.  This is a half-tang example with a chromed carbon steel blade.  The original box, tray, and intact sharpening stone make this example somewhat of a conditional rarity.
  The wood storage tray is in good condition. It has a carborundum type sharpening stone built into the reverse and these are frequently missing or damaged, as the adhesive used to secure the stone tends to fail over time.  The sharpening stone is free of any cracks, chips, or damage  The tray is free of any damage and the wood shows no stains, discoloration, or bleaching with no cracks, chips, or marring.

This would be an a great set for the Case XX collector/enthusiast. An excellent, original example of this classic American-made knife!
