This is a Vintage MILLER BROS CUT CO MERIDEN 2-Blade Barehead Jack Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Set of Black Ebony Wood Scales in Great Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips,  Brightly Polished German Silver Squared Bolsters, Three (3) German Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished German Silver or Steel Liners, Two (2) Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 3/8” in Length, Made by Miller Bros Located in Meriden, Connecticut and Made Between c.1863-1926.

This is a very nice Vintage or Antique MILLER BROS CUT CO MERIDEN 2-Blade Barehead Jack folding pocket knife. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel spear main blade with a common nail pull.  It looks like it may have been lightly cleaned but still shows some light scratches from use and sharpening and some scattered micro-pitting. Stamped on the front tang is MILLER BROS (arched)(over) CUT CO (over) MERIDEN. The stamps on both blades are about as clean and legible as I’ve seen on a Miller knife. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common bail pull. The pen blade, as on many pocket knives, appears to have been the go to blade on the knife. Both faces have scratches from use and sharpening but otherwise the front is pretty clean and but the rear face has some old scars likely from rust but they’re very difficult to see. Stamped on the front tang is MILLER BROS (arched)(over) CUT CO (over) MERIDEN. Stamped on the front tang is H BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN (over) GERMANY. Both blades have very hard and loud “alligator”open and close snap and very hard and distinctive half-stops. The scales are black Ebony wood. They’re in excellent condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. Thee are three (3) nickel silver or steel handle pins in each scale. It has brightly polished German Silver or steel bolsters but I believe then to be German Silver. The liners are either German Silver or steel. The knife has two (2) steel back springs.They are free of any cracks or breaks and continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This old Miller Bros Barehead Jack is really in pretty good condition for its age  The pen blade has some excessive wear but both blades still have that old “alligator” snap we “old” collectors love. The scales re in great shape and the stampings are outstanding. This vintage Miller Bros Cutler Company 2-Blade Bearhead Jack Folding Pocket Knife was made in their factory that was located in Meriden, Connecticut between c.1863-1926 so if it isn’t already a hundred years old it soon will be.
