This is a Nice Vintage or Antique **RARE** **Salesman’s Sample** H BOKER & CO SOLINGEN GERMANY 4-Blade Equal End Folding Pocket Knife with an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, it’s Original Factory Mirror Polish and its Original Factory Edge, an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, it’s Original Factory Mirror Polish and its Original Factory Edge, another Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Pen Tertiary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, it’s Original Factory Mirror Polish and its Original Factory Edge, a Carbon Steel Dual Sided Nail File, or Manicure Blade, a Great Set of Jigged Bovine Bone Scales in Great Condition with No Cracks or Splits and Only a Gouge on the Rear Scale Caused by an Overzealous Jigger, Three (3) Brass Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished German Silver Rounded Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Liners, 2 Polished Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 3/8” in Length, Made in Solingen, Germany by H. Boker & Co Cutlery Between c.1891-1944.

This rare knife came off a salesman’s sample board taken by Ernst Felix, the former president of Boker, when he left the company. Several of those boards of mint knives were acquired by Smokey Mountain Knife Works in the 1980’s. This knife is from one of those boards and has only recently been cut away from one of those boards. If it weren’t for an overzealous jigger that either had his hand slip or was a little loopy this H. BOKER & CO SOLINGEN GERMANY pocket knife would be mint. This stamp was one of the stampings used on Boker Knives made in Germany between c.1891-1944. All three carbon steel cutting blades are unused and unsharpened and all still have their original factory mirror polish and their original factory edges. The knife has a carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. Stamped on the rear tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN (over) GERMANY. Stamped on the front tang is the Boker Tree Brand logo for that era. Next to the spear point blade main is the carbon steel pen secondary blade with common nail pull. Stamped on the front tang is H BOKER & CO’S (over) CUTLERY (over) GERMANY. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand logo of that era. On the other end of the frame is the second pen tertiary blade which also has a common nail pull. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO’S (over) CUTLERY (over) GERMANY. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand logo of the era. The final blade is a carbon steel dual-sided nail file, or manicure, blade with a common nail pull. Each side has a standard vertical ridge and valley type file blade. The top portion of the blade is the fingernail cleaner. Stamped on the rear tang is BOKER’S (over) CUTLERY (over) GERMANY. All four blades have excellent hard and loud snap on open and close and hard half-stops. This knife has a good looking set of jigged bovine bone scales. On the rear scale just above one of the end pins the jigger must have slipped or just screw up or I don’t know what. Instead of a normal size jig he took out the upper layer of the bone about the size of three jigs. It’s not really noticeable unless you’re looking for it under a light. Anyway it takes it away from being called mint. I’d still call it near mint Plus it’s still just a rare salesman’s sample right out of the Boker Germany factory The knife has three (3) brass handle pins in each scale. It has brightly polished nickel silver rounded bolsters and polished brass liners. The knife has two polished steel back springs both of which are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform.
