CONDITION: Near mint

DAMAGE:   There appears to be some shop wear in the form of rub marks and perhaps a few scratches. However, I think it is finished because I have seen this on brand-new sapphires taken from the box.

ADDITIONAL INFO:      The Kershaw Sapphire was introduced in 2006. It was listed as a premium pocketknife with the blade steel upgraded to AUS8A. (Also in the premium group was the Kershaw Splinter and the Kershaw Nakamura, with a clad VG10 blade and Mokume bolsters).

I’m not sure what Kershaw used to finish the titanium handles on this knife, but the pretty sapphire blue finished does not seem to be an even coat of color. I have seen a new one out of the box that look like they have been worn or scratched. I have another of these knives in my EDC roll and the finished does tend to show rub marks. However, after it has been carried for a length of time the rub marks and scratches on the handle give a new depth to the finish of the knife and in my opinion, it greatly improves the looks of the knife. I’m not sure how long the Sapphires were made but this is only the third one I have owned, counting the one in my EDC roll. I have seen a few on eBay from time to time but these do not seem commonplace. I love the knife; it has great steel, and the blade shape I find very useful!
