This is a Near Mint to Mint ***SALESMAN’S SAMPLE*** Unused and Unsharpened H. BOKER & CO SOLINGEN 2-Blade Shadow Senator Pen Folding Pocket Knife with an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, it’s Original Factory Mirror Polish and it’s Original Factory Edge, a Carbon Steel Dual-Sided Nail File, or Manicure Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Set of Brightly Polished Smooth Silvertone Covers in Excellent Plus Condition with Nothing More than Some Incidental Light Scratches, a Single Polished Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 2 7/8” in Length, Made in Germany by H. Boker & Co. Located in Solingen, Germany and Made Between c.1869-1944 and Came Off a Salesman’s Sample Board from the Offices of the Boker Baumwerks.  

This knife came off a salesman’s sample board taken by Ernst Felix, the former president of Boker, when he left the company. Several of those boards of mint knives were acquired by Smokey Mountain Knife Works in the 1980’s. This knife is from one of those boards and has only recently been cut away from that board by its former owner. This knife was made in the Boker factory in Germany between c.1869-1944. The knife has an unused and unsharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. It still has its original factory mirror polish and its original factory edge. With the exception of some minor blade or liner scuffs the blade is still factory clean and bright   Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand tree logo used in that era. On the other end of the frame is an unused carbon steel double sided fingernail file, or manicure, secondary  blade. There’s a standard ridge and valley type file on each face. The top portion of the blade is the fingernail cleaner. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand tree logo used in that era. Both blades have excellent open and close snap. The scales are a nice set of brightly polished smooth silvertone metal. Not sure of the metal type but I’d guess stainless steel.  Other than some incidental light scratches they’re in excellent condition. The knife has a single polished steel back spring which is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. The stamping on this knife was used by the Boker Germany factory between c.1869-1944 though I’d be confident to guess it was made post 1900.  It comes right off a salesman’s sample board from the H Boker Baumwerks offices in Solingen, Germany. I’ll call the knife near mint for some very light scratches on the covers though it would still be called Mint by NKCA standards just not Pristine Mint. This great old German Boker Salesman’s Sample is 2 7/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request.
