This is a Vintage Rare and hard to find Robeson Cutlery Co Model No. 642214 4-Blade Unofficail Scout Camp/Utility Knife. The knife has one (1) cutting blade and five (5) very useful tools on the three other blades. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. Both blade faces have scratches from use and sharpening and then just a very few scattered light stains. Stamped on the front tang is ROBESON (over) ShurEdge (in script)(underlined)(over) ROCHESTER. Stamped on the rear tang is the model code of 642214. On the same end of the knife is one of the two carbon steel combo blades with a common nail pull plus a thumb stud. It has a cap-lifter on the bottom and a unique can opener on the top of the blade. Above the nail pull there is a thumb stud which is unusual to have both. There’s just a little light scattered staining on both faces and just a few tiny pits. Stamped on the front tang is ROBESON (over) CUTLERY. On the other end of the frame is the second of the carbon steel combo blades with a common nail pull. It consists of a very fine toothed saw blade on the front edge and a flat blade screwdriver on the top end of the blade. There are just a few very light scattered stains on either face. Stamped on the rear tang is ROBESON (in an arch)(over) CO (over) CUTLERY. The last blade is a carbon steel punch though it may actually be a gouger similar to the ones on the Cattaraugus Whitt-L-Krafts. Just a few minor stains on either side. Stamped vertically on the rear bottom of the blade is PAT APR (over) 25-05. All four blades have hard and loud snap on both open and close. This knife has an excellent plus set of honey brown jigged and worm grooved bovine bone scales with a knife pocket sheen to them. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There’s a shallow easy open on the top of the rear scale to allow for easier opening of the leather punch and another on the top of the front scale where the thumb stud of the combo blade rests when the blade is closed. There is a large brightly polished nickel silver gimp style shield centered on the front scale. Stamped deeply into the shield is SCOUT though Robeson was never an official supplier of Boy Scout knives. The knife has brightly polished nickel silver rounded bolsters. The original shackle is still riveted to the bolsters. The knife has brightly polished brass liners with a thicker heavy duty brass center liner. The knife has two heavy duty steel back springs with both having quite a bit of staining and micro-pitting but they are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This great old vintage and hard to find Robeson Cutlery Co Model No. 642214 4-Blade Unofficial Scout or Camp/Utility Knife is 3 5/8” in length. The knife was made in the Robeson factory which was located in Rochester, N.Y. and made between c.1922-1939. Additional photos or information on request.
