At first glance one thinks this is a melon tester but it’s really too short for that. What it is is an Antique or Vintage H. Boker & Co. Solingen long slim pen knife made between c.1869-1944. I’m assuming this knife was a gift for someone’s birthday, anniversary or some other momentous occasion for a Tommy Morris as his name is deeply etched into the front face of the main blade. The knife has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel narrow spear point main blade with a common nail pull and old Tommy’s name. Besides Tommy’s moniker the front face has only some extremely light micro-pitting along the centerline that take a magnifying glass to even see and some light scratches from use. Looks like the blades were well cleaned at one time but done so very well. Other than 2 or 3 tiny pits only some scratches from use can be seen. The blade looks very cleaned and polished up great. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO. (over) SOLINGEN which dates this knife as being made between c.1869 and 1944. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand logo. It also has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade. The front face has some light scattered pitting along the centerline. The rear face is in about the same condition as the front face. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO. (over) SOLINGEN. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Brand tree logo of that era. Both blades have very good to excellent snap on open and close. This old German Boker has just a gorgeous set of flawless and fiery genuine Mother-of-Pearl scales. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. They’re very fiery pearl too with the green, blue, pink and purples hues exhibited when you turn the scales in the light. It has a brightly polished German Silver long narrow bar shield inlaid flush in the front scale. There are three German Silver handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver rounded bolsters with no dents or dings and only a few scratches. It still has its original German Silver bail riveted to the bolsters. The liners are brightly polished brass. It has a single polished steel back spring which is free of any breaks or cracks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This really great old German made H. Boker & Co. pen knife, hard to find in this condition, is 3 5/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request
