Before I start let me say the blades are not stamped as stainless though Colonial normally stamped their knives stainless when they were. But everything on this knife looks like brushed stainless steel to me. I bought a Colonial Knife Co. Salesman’s Sample Knife roll with about a dozen or so mint condition knives of various patterns. These aren’t vintage knives but they are ones they haven’t made for sometime. I believe they’re from the early 2000’s but that’s just a guess. But they are all in mint condition. This one is a good looking 3” long MINT Condition 1-blade Modern Lockback Folder. It has an unused and unsharpened brushed carbon steel saber clip blade with a long nail pull. It still has its original factory finish and its original factory edge. And it’s sharp! Stamped on the front tang is Colonial (over) Prov., RI. The blade moves smoothly in the frame and has great open and close snap plus it locks firmly in place when fully opened. The scales are a beautiful medium brown smooth finished wood with a wide grain. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three large polished brass handle pins in each scale. It has satin finished stainless steel bolsters and satin finished stainless steel clasp style end caps. The end caps are drilled for a lanyard. The liners are a satin finished stainless steel as well. The single polished steel back spring is free of any cracks or breaks and the bottom lock mechanism works but is a bit sticky to release. This out of production Colonial Knife Co.
