This is a Hard to Find Vintage and Antique **MINT** Condition H. BOKER & CO SOLINGEN GERMANY 3-Blade Sleeveboard Splitback Sleeveboard Whittler Pocket Knife. This particular knife was stored in their vault on a salesman’s sample board. When Ernst Felix, a Former President of Boker Left the Company He Took Several Salesman’s Samples Boards With Him. The boards were later acquired by Smoky Mountain Knife Works and I purchased this one through them. German Made H. Boker & Co Between c.1892-1944.
This is a hard to find Vintage or Antique H. Boker & Co Solingen Germany 3-blade Splitback Whittler Folding Pocket Knife in ***MINT*** condition. It came off a salesman’s sample board taken by Ernst Felix, the former president of Boker, when he left the company. Several of those boards of mint knives were acquired by Smokey Mountain Knife Works in the 1980’s. This knife is from one of those boards. This knife was made in the Boker factory in Germany and is an early model being made between c.1892-1944. The knife is an unused and unsharpened carbon steel spear point blade with a common nail pull. The blade still retains its original factory mirror polish and its original factory edge. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN (over) GERMANY. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Logo of the period. Written in black ink on the rear face is the salesman’s original sample code on 1639. On the other end of the knife is an unused and unsharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. It also retains its original factory mirror polish and its original factory edge. Stamped on the front tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN. Stamped on the rear tang is the Boker Tree Logo. The final blade is a carbon steel dual-sided fingernail file, or manicure blade, with a common nail pull. Each face has a standard vertical ridge and valley type nail file. The top portion of the blade is the fingernail cleaner and the front edge is sharpened. Stamped on the front tang is the Boker tree logo. Stamped on the rear tang is H. BOKER & CO (over) SOLINGEN. All three blades have excellent hard snap on open and close. The pen and fingernail file blades have excellent and hard snap on the half-stops. The knife has a beautiful set of pale yellow simulated pearl scales in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three brightly polished nickel silver handle pins in each scale. There’s a brightly polished nickel silver crest shaped shield inlaid flush in the front scale. The knife has brightly polished nickel silver rounded bolsters with no dents or dings. The knife has brightly polished brass liners and two mirror polished steel back springs and are in a split back spring configuration. Both back springs are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This almost impossible to find in this condition vintage, or antique, H. BOKER & CO SOLINGEN GERMANY Sleeveboard Splitback Whittler Pocket Knife is 3 1/4” in length and was made between c.1892-1944 at the Boker factory in Germany.
