ADDITIONAL INFO:   The West-Cut brand was introduced in 1958. They are listed on page 160 of Harvey Platt' s book, "The Knife Makers Who Went West." The series included the K-1, K2, K-3, K5, the #645 which is a Bowie type 

fixed blade and the K510, the Axe-Hunter combination. The combination had the K-5 and a hatchet with 10 3/4 inch overall length. It came with a sheath and held both the knife and the hatchet.

I do not know how long the West-Cut brand was produced but I have not found them in subsequent catalogs. This is a very nice knife that will hold an edge well. It would be a good beginning knife for a young hunter.
