GUARD:   Nickel silver

POMMEL:  aluminum mushroom pommel

HANDLE:   Leather & fiber ring handle

TANG STAMPS:   AERIAL / CUTLERY CO. / MARIONETTE WIS.

SHEATH:   New aftermarket leather sheath

CONDITION:   Very good

DAMAGE:   some surface scratching and pitting of the blade consistent with normal use.

BLADE WEAR:   I would estimate that the blade is 90% intact.

MADE IN:   U.S.A.

ADDITIONAL INFO:     I don't know a lot about Aerial Cutlery from Marinette Wisconsin, but according to Goins’ Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings, they made a lot of medical type products. Probably their greatest claim to fame are the folding “picture knives” that they made. The knives usually had a clear handle with a drawing, painting, or a photo under the handle, of a hunting scene, rural scene, wildlife or a nude. I did find a few pictures and descriptions of Aerial fixed blade knives in “The Old Knife Book” by Tracy Tutor. Although the article on Ariel  is focused mainly on the folding knives with picture handles, it does contains a small amount of information on fixed blade Aerial knives.  I believe this pattern is the K-18, called The Trapper.
