ADDITIONAL INFO:   The 2205 Caper appears in a 1980 catalog page which states that: "The steel in our blades is AUS 8-A, an improvement over famous 440-C. The hardness ranges Rockwell C 57-59. These high carbon blades are heat-treated by an advance subzero quench. They are slightly hollow ground to shaving sharpness and hold their edge longer than other stainless blades."

The Caper is part of the Easy Rider Series of knives. They are one of the first series of knives that Kershaw started making as early as 1976. I do not believe all of the patterns were available at that time; some were discontinued along the way and others were introduced and later discontinued. The Caper appears in the catalogs from about 1982 to about 1986. The handle is stainless steel and the wooden inlay is Rosewood. The clip on the back of sheath means that it can be worn on a belt clip can also be pulled out of the bottom and used as a boot knife. It can clip inside a jacket pocket to be carried securely while concealed. Be sure you know the local law before carrying a knife concealed. These knives are getting difficult to find, especially the #2005 Caper. The #2010, the Catfish and Mallard is a bit larger at 7” and was much more popular. We sold a lot of the Catfish and Mallard knives in the cutlery store in the 1980s, but I don’t recall ever selling a Caper, though I do remember we had one because I recall inventorying the same knife several times. I can find no recent sales for either a Catfish and Mallard or a Caper on eBay in the last 60 days. They are getting hard to find especially the smaller Caper and most especially in such good condition.
