Kershaw Blade Trader’s #1099TF – Six Knife Set
OAL: 10” to 14”
BLADE LENGTH: 8” cooks blade; 7/1/2” carving blade; 7/1/2” saw blade, bread knife blade, 7” fish fillet blade and 3-1/2” serrated paring blade
HANDLE: Kershaw Task Force
CONDITION: Near Mint
DAMAGE: Two tiny cuts in the Final blade holding the pouch; one at the tip of the carving blade pouch and one at the top of the paring blade pouch. There are some very light stains on the cook blade (chefs knife), and the paring blade. It appears to me that the other blades have not been used and I don’t see any indication that anyone has tried to sharpen them.
BLADE WEAR: None
AGE: circa 1986
MADE IN: JAPAN
ADDITIONAL INFO: The Kershaw Blade Trader sets came out in the 1980s. There are two earlier sets which appeared in the 1984 Kershaw catalog, a three-blade Blade Trader Junior and a larger six-blade set with a less usable blade selection, in my opinion. I remember these sets when I was managing the cutlery store because they were very popular but people had problems with the wooden handles not holding the blade securely. The handle was redesigned and issued as a “Task Force” handle with a much improved locking handle and the Task Force handle gave a much better grip!
This is one of the nicest Blade Trader sets that I have seen in years. They cushioned, water resistant carrying case is intact and in excellent condition. I have seen these sets were more damage to the case and pouches in one use then this one has in 30+ years! An excellent tool for the camp cook, or for the RV! Outstanding space-saving tool! Pictures are the actual set you will receive. The last picture is a page from the 1986 Kershaw catalog with the listing of the Kershaw Blade Trader.
