ADDITIONAL INFO:      The 1999-2000 Kershaw catalog list what they called the High-Tech Knives designed by Ken Onion. The blades were ATS34 stainless and rated at 59-61 Rockwell C. They feature a thumb stud for easy one-handed opening and Teflon-coated bushings. The handle is computer-machined (CNC) bead-blasted titanium. Titanium handles are super lightweight and corrosion resistant. Features removable pocket clip. These knives came out in a brief period of my life when I was not following the trends in knives. I was working with veterans transitioning out of prison and I was frequently going into prisons to teach classes. Obviously I couldn’t take pocketknives into the prisons with me so I kind of got out of the habit of buying them for a few years since I retired in 2004 I more than made up for those few years of not buying pocketknives. I have several of the high-tech knives the 1410, 1415, 1430, 1431 and the 1435. This 1410ST is an extra. For me these are user knives not ones I collect, but I rate these has some of the finest using knives I own! The ATS34 steel is, in my opinion one of the best steels ever put in a knife. I know they say that 154 CM is essentially the same thing but I think there is something, perhaps in the heat-treating process that is different. I find the 154 CM to be excellent steel for everyday use. For me personally, ATS34 retains the edge about 25% longer than a comparable blade of 154 CM. This is based on my own use and using both knives for similar everyday tasks.
