SOLD Rugged 1980's S&W American Series Knife model 6080- Mint 1-19

Smith & Wesson developed a new series of fixed blade knives called the American series, which was introduced in 1981. They were made in the US by Vermont Knives.

This series consisted of four knives each having a Posi-Grip handles of rubber and molded directly onto the blade assembly with a heavy brass hilt to protect the hand.  These were offered in four popular blade styles, called the Large Upsweep, Small Upsweep, Light Duty, and Heavy Duty.

·         Posi-Grip Handle You've never felt a knife like this before. The new "Posi-Grip" handle gives you a comfortable, sure, slip-proof grip no matter what the weather. And there's a lanyard hole for a wrist strap to provide added security.

·       440 Stainless Steel Blades are 440 stainless steel, shaped for maximum strength and flat ground to the razor-sharp edge you want and need.

o  Model 6080 is a heavy duty hunting knife with a 4 3/4" blade. It come with a genuine leather S&W Sheath.

I have had many of these and occasionally I find one like this with a genuine leather sheath and a soft grip handle. I think they were sent in plain boxes and not the display packaging that others came in. Saving the retailer space and S&W packaging they came different. Of all the American Series knives, these are my favorites. They are easy to sharpen, have a great feel and the perfect size for hunting, camping and bushcraft.
