DAMAGE:   There is a little stain, or it may be a scratch on the blade beneath the nail that. No other imperfections noted.

BLADE WEAR:   Blade appears to be near 100%, but it has been sharpened. Has very nice edge.

ADDITIONAL INFO:      The D.W.O. was introduced about 1985 as part of the Officer Ranch series of knives inspired by the Officer Ranch in Oregon’s Blue Mountains. D.W.O. are the initials of Delley Wade Officer, a member of the Officer family and a hand on the ranch. He was shot and killed and 1984 by a careless hunter who mistook Delley on his horse for a bull elk. This knife is dedicated to Delley and for the encouragement of hunter safety. The knife is iconic Kershaw and when it was introduced it was available in any color you wanted as long as you want black. I believe it was in the 1990s when they begin to have a whole assortment of colors that the knife buyer could choose from.

The stain or scratch on the blade is only negative on this knife, so far as I can tell. The DWO pattern was first made in Japan, there were some made later in the Tualatin Oregon factory, and I think they move for them to China. I think the pattern has since been discontinued. The original DWO had screws with spanner heads on them, which were difficult for the average knife owner to tighten. I believe it was about 1988 when they introduced the ones with the standard slotted screwdriver head. The original ones made in Japan are getting harder to find and the price seems to be rising.
