MAKER:   Western, (most likely though stamps are worn off).

PATTERN:   Folding Hunter

LENGTH (Closed):   5-1/4”

BOLSTERS:  Nickel silver

SHIELD:   Nickel silver oval

HANDLES:   Jigged bone, it appears that that it could be Rogers bone.

BLADES:   Clip blade & California skinning blade

LINERS:   Brass

TANG STAMPS:   None visible

CONDITION:   Fair, only because they tang stamps are gone, functionally the knife is good.

DAMAGE:   Appears to be a tight crack at the front pen on the mark side in the rear pin on the pile side. Dings in bolsters, blades and handles. The knife has been used a lot but pretty well cared for. There was some dings in the liners about ¾ inch out from the rear bolster. It looked as if something sharp had hit it and messed up the liners. I sanded that out although it’s still one spot you can see.

BLADE WEAR:   Approx 20%

SNAP:   Good

MADE IN:   U.S.A.

ADDITIONAL INFO:      This is a great old knife. I’m certain it is a Western #6206 that was either never stamped or was lightly stamped in the stamps have been worn off. It’s easy to see this knife is seen a lot of use but it still has probably at least one more lifetime of use in it. I believe this knife was probably made in the 1950s or early 1960s. The carbon steel in these blades is some of the best steel American knife makers ever put into knives! In my opinion Western made some of the finest carbon steel knives ever produced. This would make a great hunting knife, backup or secondary hunting or pack knife or even for fishing. This knife certainly has some battle scars but on such a classical pattern with beautiful handles these battle scars are born with the grace and elegance rarely seen on today’s knives. If your a fan of the old knives with the story this knife may be for you. I’m sorry no sheath.
