Western USA S-532 "A" Wood Westlock Lockback Knife w Sheath in Box 1977 "PAT. PEND." First Year
Western USA S-532 "A" Wood Westlock Lockback Knife with sheath in box. 1977 PAT PEND. First year.
This knife is from the first year of the series Western called the "NATURE" etchings. I have an advertisement from 1979 that proclaims this knife has
"More Quality Features than any other lock blade at an price". It goes on to describe those features. "Enclosed trouble free lock spring system (Patent No. 4,040,181), 440 series stainless steel, takes and holds a keen edge, Blade is double swedged for better point, Heavy duty pivot pin, Nickel silver bolsters on both ends for strength and beauty, Slim handle is wide and form fitting for grip control"
This knife is from the first year for the knives and before the patent number referenced in the advertisement above. For 1977 (A) only, the tang was stamped with PAT PEND. Also for this knife they only used the Western Logo etch for the first two years. The knife is in excellent, unused condition. Since I live in Colorado, I have collected these knive for years. I have a couple dozen of these knives and if there is a specific etch, contact me, I am sure I have at least one of each etch
