Folk's, I have a Bowie knife here for ya that I bought brand new in 1971. I am the only owner of this knife. I carried it back then in my hiking & backpacking days for protection because you could not have a firearm while hiking in National Parks. It is my understanding that this pattern Western Bowie was carried by some of our boys in VietNam

This is the Western USA W 49 Bowie

Knife is 14 1/2" OAL

Blade is 9 1/4" in length

Knife is stamped at the base of the brass guard : WESTERN USA on front side of guard and W 49 is stamped on the back side of the guard

The handles are wood, beautiful shape held with 3 big brass pins. Great shape in the handle the way your little finger curls around the bottom. Has a huge brass guard seperating the handle and blade

Knife is in Excellent + condition. Its only been sharpened 1 time in the 39 yrs I have owned it. Carried, but used very very little

Comes with the Original sheath from 1971
