BLADE WEAR:   None. I took the blade to Kershaw and had them replace it while I waited. It took about 5 to 7 minutes. Not only is it a new blade in this knife, it was replaced at the factory and is “Kershaw sharp.”

ADDITIONAL INFO:      Ken Onion introduced the Leek about 15 years ago circa 2002. The 1660VIB, with the rainbow finish, won Blade Magazine’s Blade Show  “Overall Knife of the Year Award” that year. The Leek and in its myriad of finishes and numerous blade steel offerings have been incredibly popular ever since. This is one of the most successful patterns from one of the most prolific modern knife maker and designer. This knife is not a second, this is a first run knife that was lightly used and then dropped on the tip. The tip was bent slightly so I took it to the factory this week for a new blade. Kershaw customer service is outstanding; I had my Leek with a brand new installed in about 5 minutes! That is impressive customer service no matter where you live! The SpeedSafe assisted opening on this knife works without a hitch and locks open with a satisfying thump. Although this knife is in nice enough condition that that it is suitable for display I would urge you to put this knife in your pocket and use it! Then you will find out firsthand why I have maintained since the 1980s that Kershaw is one of your best values per dollar in modern cutlery!
